Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult period, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in specific - led to him falling of the elite rankings and eventually separating with former trainer his previous coach.

Now training with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily improved in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's first trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt from spring of 2023.

Success also means Medvedev has won 21 victories at twenty-one various competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my children simultaneously, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six finals, including in that event previously this season.

The player's counter-punching strategy and regular outbursts on the playing surface had caused commentators to doubt if his capacity to play at the highest level was over.

However the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and compete positively, supported by an better service.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the final five games to take the lead.

Both players swapped service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his initial ATP Tour victory, took control to create a decider.

He rescued 4 initial chances in a close deciding set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, he earned victory with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
